The Norfolk Virginian Pilot February 23, 1947


Mrs. Mary Lovitt Twiford, 90, widow of James Twiford, Sr., died at her 
residence, 528 Pennsylvania Avenue, yesterday at 3:15 p.m. after a long 
illness. She is survived by four daughters, Misses Sue and Grace Twiford and 
Mrs. Helen T. Kennedy, of Norfolk; Mrs. Doris T. Messell, of Washington; two 
sons, James and B.E. Twiford, of Norfolk; a brother John D. Lovitt, of Princess 
Anne County, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Twiford was a 
native of Princess Anne County and had been a resident of Norfolk for 47 years. 
She was a member of Park Place Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
