Tyler, died in his 91st year Wednesday morning. He is William H. Tyler, who for nearly 70 years owned a barber shop catering to downtown trade. Mr. Tyler, a native of the Eastern Shore, retired from active work in 1942, but still retained an interest in the shop he founded. He had been located in the Seaboard Air Line Railroad building since the building opened in 1905. Mr. Tyler served four generations of Norfolk’s professional and business personalities in the downtown area. Included among his distinguished clientelle was Bishop Beverly Tucker and his nine sons who also followed the bishopric. Mr. Tyler was - almost - a life-long native of Norfolk, having come to the city at the age of four. An active worker in fraternal affairs. He held membership in the Campbell lodge 67, AF and AM; Greater Norfolk Lodge of Elks and the Knights of Pythias. Funeral services will be held from St. John’s AME Church on Bute street at 1 p.m., Saturday afternoon.
