Allen ``Kitty'' Tyler, 83, of the 2400 block of Ruffin St., passed quietly and gently into eternal rest Dec. 13, 1999, in the comfort of her home. A native of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late James and Martha Jones Allen and the wife of Stanley L. Tyler. She was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age and, at the time of her death, she fellowshipped at St. Mark RZUA Church. She was educated at St. Joseph Catholic High School and was a member of the Alumni Association. She was a member of the Voter Registration League, the Salvation Army Home League and the Huntersville Senior Citizens Association. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Barbara T. Briggs; three sons, Eugene Tyler, Stanley W. Tyler and Douglas B. Tyler; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers. A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 718 Tidewater Drive, by the Rev. H. Carlyle Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.
