Norfolk - When the funeral for Mrs. Mabel Tynes of Newark, NJ, a Norfolk native,
was held here recently at Bank Street Baptist Church, her pastor, the Rev.
Theodore B. Kelsey of Newark, came to Norfolk to deliver the eulogy.

Mrs. Tynes was a member of St. Matthew's AME church in Orange, NJ. She died in a
Norfolk hospital while on a visit.

The Rev. J. B. Henderson, pastor of Bank Street church, officiated at the
funeral for Mrs. Tynes, once a teacher at Lott Carey Elementary school here.
Mrs. Bernardine Rasberry was soloist at the service. The Rev. Samuel A. Wilson
of New Calvary Baptist Church joined in the tributes.

Among persons from other cities attending Mrs. Tynes' funeral were:

Major and Mrs. Phillip Reed, Roger Matthews and Mrs. Lucille Cogswell of New
York, Mrs. Audrey Hinds of Brooklyn, Mr. and Mrs. Quinton Tynes, Mrs. Plummer
Tynes and Henry Tynes of Newark and Mrs. Dora T. Jones of Washington
