Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark July 9, 1929

Mrs. Josephine Tyson, aged 64, widow of James Tyson, died at a local hospital 
yesterday afternoon at 12:45 o'clock after a long illness.  She was a native of 
Virginia and has been a resident of Norfolk for 45 years, residing at 528 Ferguson 
Avenue.  Surviving her are three cousins, Mrs. Janie Cason, of Norfolk and Mr. 
Blanks and John B. Davis, of Portsmouth and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie E. Jones, 
of Portsmouth.  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 
o'clock from the funeral home of James V. Derry, 346 West Princess Anne Road.  The 
Rev. Sparks W. Melton will officiate.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
