Norfolk Journal and Guide, Saturday, Sept. 19,1936
Mrs. Ellen Upshur, 80, died in a local hospital, September 12, and her funeral
was held at the St. John A. M. E. Church with the Rev. J. A. Young, pastor,
officiating.  She was a native of Maryland and lived here for years.  She is
survived by her niece, Mrs. Lula Myles, one brother, Samuel Garner, and one
sister, Mrs. Carrie Scott of New York City.  She was buried in Calvary Cemetery.
