Virginian Pilot September 23, 1981

Mrs. Birdie Elizabeth Upton of 4087 Dundaff St., Apt. 604, the widow of Robert 
J. Upton and a native of Princess Anne County, died Tuesday in a hospital.
She had lived in this area all of her life.
She was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church; Colonial Dames of 
the 17th Century; Daughters of American Colonies; Daughters of the American 
Revolution; Gray Ladies Volunteer of the Public Health Service Hospital from 
1973 to 1979 and 67-year member of the Circle of Services of the King's 
Daughters.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Henryetta W. Delk of Norfolk; two 
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A graveside funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery by the 
Rev. James N. Samuel Jr.  H.D Oliver Funeral Apartments has charge.  The family 
asks that flowers be omitted; memorial donations may be made to a charity of the 
donor's choice.
