Norfolk Virginian Tuesday September 8, 1891

Mr. Mark Upton, father of Mr. W.E. Upton, died at his son's residence, on Liberty 
Street extended, Saturday, at 9:20 o'clock.  His funeral took place from the 
residence yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. C.J. Jones, 
Jr.  The remains were interred in Magnolia Cemetery.
