Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, September 24, 1997 
Mary E. Uzzle, of the 3500 block of Gatling Ave., died Sept. 19, 1997, in a
local hospital.

She was a Norfolk native and the widow of John Uzzle. A retired cook, she was a
member of New Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary M. Uzzle, Martha A. Uzzle, Shirley Uzzle,
Lena Uzzle; a son, Johnny Uzzle Jr.; two sisters, Lillie White and Vernice
Winder; a brother, Leon Harrison; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and
a great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Uzzle also leaves a host of other relatives and
friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Martha M. Harrison and Jesse Pugh.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in New Calvary Baptist Church by the
Rev. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. The family
will receive friends at the residence. Graves Funeral Home is handling
arrangements.
