NORFOLK — Josephine Maria Vaccarella, 91, of the 8000 block of Chesapeake Blvd., 
a retired seamstress, died Aug. 17,1986, in a hospital.
Mrs. Vaccarella, the widow of Leonard Vaccarella, was a native of Sicily and a 
member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was one of the first members of the 
International Ladies Garment Workers Union in New York City.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Dugan of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; and 13 
great-grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pius X 
Catholic Church by the Rev. Charles Brickner. Burial will be in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today in Hollomon-
Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to 
the American Cancer Society.
