Virginian-Pilot December 26, 1968

Mrs. Catherine Schumacher Vaeth, 84, of 213 Colonial Ave., the widow of Martin 
Vaeth and a daughter of George O. and Mrs. Catherine Schumacher, died in a 
hospital Wednesday morning. 
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived here 41 years. She was a member of St. 
Matthew's Catholic Church and a retired employe of Sam Finkelstein's Inc.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Arnold F. Eichhorn of Norfolk; a sister, 
Mrs. Margaret Schmidt of Brooklyn; a brother, Charles Schumacher of Plainfield, 
N.J.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in St. Matthew's Catholic Church Friday at 11 
a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The Office of the Dead will be said in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 
6:45.

VAETH, MRS. CATHERINE SCHUMACHER - In a local hospital, Wednesday, MRS. 
CATHERINE SCHUMACHER VAETH, widow of Martin Vaeth and daughter of the late 
George and Mrs. Catherine Schumacher, in the 85th year of her age. The body will 
be taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, to St. Matthew’s Catholic 
Church for funeral services Friday at 11 o’clock. Burial, St. Mary’s Cemetery. 
The family will be at 5912 Lathan Road, Norfolk.
