Norfolk - Funeral services for Thomas Valentine of 1024 Billings street, who 
died May 20 in a hospital, were held recently in New Calvary Baptist Church by 
the Rev. V. W. Mouring. Burial was in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery with 
Hale Funeral Home in charge.

The Petersburg native was a son of the late Thomas Valentine and Mrs. Eliza 
Valentine and the husband of Mrs. Ruth Valentine. Mr. Valentine was the owner of 
Valis Barber Shop and a member of New Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving, besides his widow, are two sons, Thomas Valentine Jr. of Petersburg 
and Robert Valentine of Norfolk; a daughter, Miss Annie Bell Valentine of 
Petersburg; a brother, Clarence Valentine of Petersburg; two sisters, Mrs. 
Marinda Madison of Petersburg and Miss Roberta Valentine of Philadelphia; five 
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
