Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, February 24, 2002 
Mamie B. Valentine departed this life Feb. 15, 2002, in Atlanta, Ga., while
residing with her son.

She was born to the late Genevia and Christopher Felton in Norfolk County. Mamie
was a long standing member of Grace Episcopal Church where she was active in the
Altar Guild and St. Cecilia's Guild. She was an experienced seamstress and an
avid gardener, having received many awards for her floral arrangements in local
and state competitions. Mamie retired from Norfolk Community Hospital, Child
Care Center.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Philip A. Beslow Sr. and daughter,
June Beslow Cleaves. Following Philip's demise, she met and married Huther
Valentine, who is also deceased.

She leaves to cherish her a son, Philip A. Beslow Jr. and wife, Rosette, of
Atlanta; sister-in-law, Ida Beslow; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
loving nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

Services will be held Monday at noon at Grace Episcopal Church, 1400 E.
Brambleton Ave., Norfolk. Viewing will be today from 1 to 6 p.m. and the family
will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service, 1225 Norview
Ave., Norfolk Chapel. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Monday.
The family will assemble at the residence for the procession. Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Altar Guild of Grace
Church or St. Cecilia's Guild of Grace Church.
