The Norfolk Landmark  December 13, 1892

On Friday last the body of Mr. Warren VanDeventer was laid to rest. Today at 8 
o'clock the funeral services of his son, Mr. J. VanDeventer, aged forty years, 
three months and nine days, will occur at the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church and 
his remains will be laid beside his father, whom he honored and loved. This 
dispensation with its double pang touches the heart of the sympathetic and 
presses most sadly the heart of his venerable mother now bowed down by this 
double affliction. Mr. VanDeventer, as his father, was unassuming and quiet in 
his demeanor. He leaves a disconsolate widow and a bright and interesting little 
daughter.
