NORFOLK - Frank Rodger Van Norton II, 17, of 1913 South Lakeland Drive, died early 
Wednesday morning in Norfolk General Hospital of head injuries he received in an 
automobile crash in Virginia Beach Nov. 20.
Van Norton was a passenger in an automobile which missed a curve on Shell Road, 
crashed through a traffic sign, and then came to rest further down the road. The 
driver was Donald E. Taylor, 18, of the 5800 block of Lowery Road.
Virginia Beach police charged him with reckless driving and a trial in Municipal 
Court is set for Dec. 23.
Taylor received minor injuries in the crash.
Van Norton was a son of Richard H. Van Norton Sr. and Mrs. Frances Van Norton. He 
was a senior at Lake Taylor High School and a member of St. Pius X Catholic 
Church.
Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Richard H. Van Norton Jr. and 
James Randolph Van Norton of Norfolk.
The rosary will be recited Friday at 7:30 p.m. in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. 
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church. 
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
