NORFOLK - Helen Audrey Thompson Van Tiem, 83, of the 8000 block of Walters Drive, 
died peacefully in a local hospital with her family by her bedside Feb. 25, 2007. 
Mrs. Van Tiem was the daughter of the late Festus W. Thompson and Mary A. Fantone 
Thompson. She was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was preceded in 
death by her husband, Gerald V. Van Tiem and her infant son, David G. Van Tiem. 
She was a Roman Catholic.

Survivors include four sons, Gerald V. Van Tiem and his wife Susan of Norfolk, 
Thomas F. Van Tiem and his wife Daphne of Dumfries, Va., Patrick G. Van Tiem and 
his wife Susan of Buford, Ga., and Michel G. Van Tiem and his fiancee Beverly of 
Norfolk; five grandchildren, Gregory S. Van Tiem, Shawn P. Van Tiem, Jennifer M. 
Van Tiem, David Michael Van Tiem and Jacqueline Nicole Van Tiem; one great-
grandson, Addison D. Van Tiem; her brother, Festus W. Thompson Jr. of Riverside, 
Calif.; and her sister, Betty A Thompson Yuhos of Lorain, Ohio.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery 
by the Rev. Thomas M. Powers. The family will receive friends in the Norfolk 
chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations 
may be made to St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children, 6171 Kempsville Circle, 
Norfolk.
