The Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Monday January 7, 1935
Mrs. Annie Lawrence Vaughan, aged 83, widow of John N. Vaughan and daughter 
of John V. and Hannah Rhea Lawrence, died at her residence, 814 Graydon 
avenue, yesterday at 12 o'clock noon. Mrs. Vaughan was a native of 
Murfreesboro, N.C., and for the past 62 years a well-known resident of 
Norfolk. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Myra Vaughan Friebus, and 
Mrs. A.G. Bailey; five grandchildren, John Vaughan Groner, Duncan Groner, 
Mrs. Elliott West Shanklin, Mr. Jane Bruce Garland, and Miss Emily Bruce, 
and a sister, Mrs. Walter Reed.
Mrs. Vaughan was the mother of the late Mrs. D. Lawrence Groner and Mrs. 
L.F. Bruce. Funeral services and interment will be private tomorrow with the 
Very Rev. H. Dobson Peacock, rector of Christ Church, of which Mrs. Vaughan 
was a member, officiating, Friends are requested by the family to omit 
flowers.
