Vaughan, died Monday, August 19, in a hospital. A native of Ford, VA, he was a 36-year retired member of International Longshoremen’s Association. He was a deacon of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He was also a member of Progressive Masonic Lodge 80, and Retired Men’s Club of I.L.A. Local 1248. He was also chaplain of Senior Citizens Club of First Calvary Baptist Church. Other survivors include a son, Richard Vaughan; a stepson, Roland Lee; and a sister, Mrs. Martha Powell, all of Norfolk; two brothers, Willie Thomas of Norfolk, and Luke Thomas of New York City; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank P. Wise. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
