Born Beatrice Bell in Weldon, N.C. Oct. 9, 1913, to the union of the late Hattie and Allen Bell, she resided in Norfolk the majority of her life. She was the widow of Lynwood Gilliam Sr. and Richard Vaughn. She was predeceased by her son, Lynwood Gilliam Jr., who affectionately called her "Lady Girl"; brothers, Alvester and Richard Bell. Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Iona Gale of Hopewell; nieces and nephews, Renee Bell of Suffolk, Alvester (Denise) and Clifton (JoAnne) Bell of Virginia Beach, Lorenzo Bell of Washington, D.C., Derek Bell of Florida; adopted son, Lionel (Georgia) Bullock of Virginia Beach; great-nieces and -nephews, Chauve Bell, Chaquin Bell, Jabaar Bell and Jastin Smith. The family will receive friends at Graves Funeral Home Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mark RZUA Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Norfolk.
