Norfolk - Andrew J. “A.J.” Veale of 1111 Baltimore St., a native of Windsor, NC, 
died Friday in a hospital.

Mr. Veale had retired from a job with International Longshoremen’s Association, 
Local 1248, after 36 years.  He was a member of the Senior Citizens of Titustown 
and Logan Park.  He had served in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Belver Veale;  a stepdaughter, Lucy Cumber, and a 
stepson, Roland Gaines, both of Norfolk;  and three sisters, Ola Bunch and Beryl 
Bowman, both of Ossining, NY;  and Elizabeth Zeigley of New York.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Metropolitan Funeral Chapel 
by the Rev. J. L. Kearney.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.  A wake service will be held from 7 to 8 
p.m. today in the funeral home.
