Virginian Pilot May 1, 1961

Mrs. Josie Estelle Vellines, 69, widow of Eugene Joseph Vellines, died Sunday at 
9:15 p.m. at her home 3426 Westminister Ave.
The daughter of William Henry and Mrs. Josephine Carroll, she is survived by 
three sons, Bert B. Vellines and Andrew J. Vellines of Norfolk and Raymond E. 
Vellines of Lynnhaven; a daughter, Mrs. L.W. Hewitt of Virginia Beach; a sister, 
Mrs. Lena Dargil of Norfolk; a brother, Frank Carroll of Jacksonville, Fla.; 22 
grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.

NORFOLK — A funeral service for Mrs. Josie Estelle Vellines, widow of Eugene J. 
Vellines, who died Sunday in her home, 3426 Westminster Ave., will be conducted 
in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments today at noon by the Rev. Normand Davis with 
burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
