He was a past member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mildred A. Vernon; five daughters, Gloria Pittman, Pamela Green and Carolyn E. Vernon, all of Norfolk, Rosalyn V. Bell of Virginia Beach and Delores Banks of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sons, Larry E. Vernon of Norfolk, Grayson Vernon of Portsmouth and Trent L. Vernon of Washington, D.C.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Riddick Funeral Service by the Rev. James O. Allen. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be form 2 to 8 p.m. Friday. The family will be at the residence.
