A native of Rochester, N.Y., he was retired from Civil Service employment at Norfolk Naval Air Station. He was a Navy veteran. He starred in high school football and later in the semipro Dixie League. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Other survivors include five sons, Jacob Versprille, Patrick J. Versprille, Edward Leo Versprille of Norfolk, George E. Versprille of Virginia Beach and Thomas Joseph Versprille of Pequea, Pa.; a stepson, Douglas Day of Virginia Beach, two sisters, Mrs. John Zietse of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Mrs. Martha VerWoert of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two brothers, Peter Versprille of Pittsford, N.Y. and Adrian Versprille of Opa Locka, Fla.; and 20 grandchildren. The body will be taken from H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Christian Wake service Friday at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Heart Fund. *************************************************************************** VERSPRILLE, JACOB - In a Norfolk hospital, Wednesday, JACOB VERSPRILLE, husband of Mrs. Christine Day Versprille and son of the late Jacob and Mrs. Martha Versprille, in the 75th year of his age. A Christian Wake service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the Christ the King Catholic Church. A Joyful Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, has charge. Friends of the family are invited to attend.
