NORFOLK - Jacob Versprille Jr., 78, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 8, 2005. He 
was the son of Jacob Versprille Sr. and Elizabeth Callahan Versprille.
He is survived by his wife, Nanette Tatem Versprille; two sons, Jacob Versprille 
IV and Mark Thomas Versprille; his grandchildren, Victoria Blair Versprille, Jacob 
Michael Versprille and Tess Marie Versprille; and his brothers, Thomas J. 
Versprille, Patrick J. Versprille and Edward Leo Versprille.
He graduated from Holy Trinity High School then attended the University of 
Richmond on a football scholarship. He retired from the Norfolk Police Department 
as a civilian worker. He attended Blessed Sacrament Church and will be missed by 
all.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 
Norfolk at 11 a.m. by Father Joseph Metzger. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic 
Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. at H.D. Oliver 
Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel.


Additional Comments:
There is a discrepancy between his date of death in the obituary and on his 
tombstone and in his death certificate.
