Norfolk Virginian Pilot August 24, 1948


Marius Daniel Verstynen, 60, retired sexton of St. Mary's and Sacred Heart 
Catholic Churches, died yesterday at 3:50 p.m. at his residence, 1724 Blair 
Avenue.
A native of Holland, he had been a resident of Norfolk for 19 years. He was a 
son of the late August J. and Mrs. Antionette Van Mierop Verstynen.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cornelia Crielaars Verstynen; two daughters, Mrs. 
Carl E. Cholewa and Mrs. John H. Chandler, both of Norfolk; two sons, August J. 
Verstynen of Fort Wayne, Ind. and John A. Verstynen, of Norfolk; two brothers, 
John and Peter Verstynen both of Norfolk; and three sisters in Holland.
The body will be taken from the H.D Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. Mary' 
Catholic Church for services Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the funeral apartments Friday at 7:30 
p.m.
