Virginian Pilot May 9, 1961

Peter Cornelius Verstynen, 71, of 5733 Roper Drive, Azalea Acres, died Monday at 
4 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital after long illness.
A native of The Netherlands and a son of Augustus and Antionette Verstynen, he 
lived here 40 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss Janie A. Verstynen of Norfolk; and two 
sisters, Miss Marie Verstynen and Sister M. Columbina (Verstynen) of The 
Netherlands.
The Rosary will be recited in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 7:30. A 
funeral service will be held in St. Pius X Catholic Church Wednesday at 10 a.m. 
with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

VERSTYNEN, PETER CORNELIUS – At a local hospital, Monday, May 8, 1961, at 4 
a.m., PETER CORNELIUS VERSTYNEN, son of the late Augustus and Mrs. Antoinette 
Verstynen, in the 72nd year of his age. Remains will be taken from the H. D. 
Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, to St. Pius X Catholic Church 
for a funeral service Wednesday at 10 a.m. Friends of the family are invited to 
attend. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery.
