Virginian-Pilot, July 28, 1876
DEATH- We regret to announce the unexpected demise of Mrs. Matilda Vicar, the 
beloved wife of W. B. Vicar, and mother of our esteemed young townsman, W. W. 
Vicar, Esq, at the advanced age of 83 years, yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Vicar 
had been for a long series of years a consistent Christian, holding her 
membership with the M. E. Church South. The dusty march and stormy battle of 
life ____ being over, she has sweetly entered into rest. Her funeral will take 
place from the residence of her son, No. 124 Fenchurch Street, at 5 o'clock 
this afternoon.
