B Vicar, father of our well-known and highly esteemed townsman, Mr. W. W. Vicar and Mrs. Benjamin F. Reynolds, at the home of the latter at 4 o'clock Sunday morning, though not entirely unexpected, will be received with expressions of deep sorrow by his many friends in this city and elsewhere. The deceased was born in Princess Anne County, October, 1823, but he moved with his family to Berkley in 1860, where he lived until 1869, when he came to Norfolk, where he has since resided. No man was better known here or more highly esteemed for his upright demeanor and consistent Christian life. He is survived by a widow, his two children, and a number of grandchildren, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. His funeral was held from the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Benjamin P. Reynolds, No. 106 W Brambleton Avenue, at 5:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. A. C. Hatcher of Queen Street M. E. Church, assisted by Rev. J. B. Merritt, chaplain of the Seamen's Bethel, both of whom paid deserved tributes to his Christian virtue. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the pall-bearers: Messrs. F. Odend'hal, William Fulford, J. H. Walters, W. R. Fentress, Caleb White and Dr. John N. Webster.
