Virnelson who died suddenly about 4 p.m. yesterday at his home on Lawrence Avenue, Lambert’s Point, took place this afternoon at 4 o’clock from the residence, and was conducted by Rev. George W. Cox, of the Burroughs Memorial Baptist Church. The interment was in Elmwood. The deceased was 38 years of age and leaves a widow and five children. He was a stevedore at the Clyde Line. ýVirginian-Pilot, Fri, September 27 1901 Virnelson-At his resident, Lawrence Avenue, Lambert’s Point, Thursday, September 26, at 4 p.m., Travis F. Virnelson, aged 38 years. The funeral will take place from his late residence this (Friday) afternoon at 4 o’clock. Friends and acquaintances respectfully invited to attend. Virginian-Pilot, Fri, September 27 1901 Mr. Travis F. Virnelson died suddenly at his home on Lawrence Avenue at 4:00 p.m. yesterday of Bright’s disease. He had been complaining for several days, but he did not take to his bed until Wednesday evening and his condition during the night became very alarming. Physicians were called in, but he continued to grow worse and passed away at the hour mentioned. The deceased had resided here for about four years and was stevedore at the Clyde Line, which position he had filled for a number of years, and was in the full confidence of his employers. For some months Mr. Virnelson was agent here for the Virginian-Pilot and faithfully guarded the interest of the paper, it have grown steadily in circulation under his management. He leaves a widow and five children, three daughters and two sons. The funeral will be held from his late residence at 4 o’clock this afternoon. The interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. Owing to the funeral of Mr. Virnelson there will be no meeting of the W.T.U. this afternoon.
