Virginian Pilot December 18, 1960


Mrs. Mary Catherine Panella Vita, 93, widow of Giovanni Vita and daughter of 
Frank A. and Mrs. Isabella Russo Panella, a native of Italy and a resident of 
Norfolk 59 years, died Saturday at 2:35 p.m. in her home, 414 W. 13th St.
Mrs. Vita was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church., its Sodality and Cuore 
Di Maria Gorizia Lodge.
Surviving are one son, Joseph A. Vita Sr. and two grandsons, John A. Vita and 
Joseph A. Vita Jr. of Norfolk and two great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be recited in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 8:30 
o'clock. A funeral service will be held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Monday 
at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Saturday, December 17th, 1960, at 2:35 p.m., MARY CATHERINE PANELLA, widow of 
Giovanni Vita, and daughter of the late Frank A., and Isabella Russo Panella, in 
the 94th year of her age. Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for services 
MONDAY at 11:30 a.m. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. 
Mary’s Cemetery.
