Norfolk - William Clarence Waddill, retired postal clerk of 536 Decatur street, 
Brooklyn NY, was given funeral rites recently in New Central Baptist Church, 
here.   Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery with Pretlow’s Funeral Home in 
charge.  The Rev. W. B. Westbrook officiated at the services.

Mr. Waddill, 77, a native of Richmond, was the son of the late Caesar and Mrs. 
Jennie Holmes Waddill and the husband of Mrs. Ellen Smith Waddill.  He was a 
graduate of Hampton Institute, a member of the Postal Alliance of New York, 
Hampton Alumni Club, the Men’s Fellowship Club of Nazarene and member of the 
Board of Directors of McDonald Street Community Center.

Mr. Waddill was choir director at Nazarene Congregational Christian Church, 
Brooklyn, and former member of New Central Baptist Church.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Waddill 
Mickens of Brooklyn;  two sisters, Mrs. Francis W. Johnson of Baltimore, MD, and 
Mrs. Nettie W. Jones of Norfolk;  and four grandchildren.
