Funeral will take place Sunday, June 14th, at 10 a.m., from the Armstrong Memorial Church, corner Main Street and Maple Avenue, Berkley. ************************************************************************ The funeral services of Mr. James R. Walke, Sr., in accordance with previous notice, were conducted by the Rev. H.G. Miller, pastor at Armstrong Memorial, Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. A large number of persons both of Norfolk and Portsmouth united with our own citizens in rending their tribute of respect to the memory of this Confederate soldier, who enlisted at the commencement of hostilities and was not again seen by his family until after the war. It was right to show respect to his memory and to confirm that respect in the offering of beautiful floral testimonials, prominent among which "Gates Ajar", made for Norfolk County ferries by Mr. W.J. Harris, of Portsmouth, was the conspicuous reminder of the esteem in which he was held by those with whom he was intimately associated. The following gentlemen who knew him so well in life bore his casket to the grave: J. Barry King, T. C. Humphries, Enos Cuthrell, Major John Mullen, Dr. George W. Wallace, A.H. Martin, Isaac Diggs and T.H. Tebault.
