Walke, 76, Dies in Gloucester Building and Loan Officer in Norfolk For 25 Years GLOUCESTER - Joseph Wallace Walke, 76, member of a notable Tidewater Colonial family and prominent in building loan circles in Norfolk for many years, died Friday at his home in Gloucester County. He was born in Berkley, Norfolk County, in 1882, and was the son of William and Mrs. Laura Wallace Walke. He attended the public schools of Berkley and later graduated from the Norfolk Academy. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. For 25 years prior to his retirement several years ago, he was secretary and treasurer of the Atlantic Permanent Building and Loan Assn. After his retirement he moved to Gloucester County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Christine Mackan Walke, of Gloucester, and several cousins. The body was taken to the Bridges Funeral Home in Gloucester, where funeral services will be conducted Monday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at noon with graveside services in Magnolia Cemetery in Norfolk.
