W. B. Westbrook, officiating, assisted by the Revs. Allen and Morgan. Mrs. Walker died Tuesday, March 3, at her residence, 1006 Joyce street, after a long illness. A native of Brunswick County, VA, she had lived in Norfolk more than 50 years. She was the daughter of William and Mrs. Libby Ann Haskins, and widow of Roscoe Walker. Mrs. Walker who was called the “mother” of New Central Baptist Church, was formerly active in the church choir, Sunday school and missionary circles. She held membership in the United Order of Tents, Naomi Chapter 31, and J.R.G. and J.U. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Carrie Banks, of Norfolk; two granddaughters, Mrs. A. M. Ellis, of Norfolk; Mrs. Sarah Larson, of New York City; one niece, Mrs. Lola Savage and one nephew, Gurney Haskins, both of Norfolk. Burial was at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Berkley, with the Pretlow Funeral Home in charge.
