Virginian Pilot Sunday July 22, 1900

Mr. George H. Walker, a well-known citizen, died suddenly at the homme of 
his sister, Mrs. M.E. Godwin, on Chestnut street, Friday night about 12:30 
o'clock, aged about 53 years.
Mr. Walker was overcome by the heat Thursday afternoon, but recovered and 
worked Friday.  He returned home Friday afternoon suffering from a pain in 
his heart and head.  He was a brother of Mr. Emory Walker and was an old 
resident of Norfolk, but had lived in Baltimore about six years.
The funeral will be conducted from the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church this 
afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.  The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.  
Thomas Jefferson Council, No. 109. Jr. O.U.A.M. and Tidewater, No. 30, Jr. 
O.U.A.M. will turn out in a body to attend the funeral.  See calls.

The funeral of the late Mr. George H. Walker, whose death was mentioned in 
Sunday's issue of this paper, was conducted from the Berkley Avenue Baptist 
Church Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock.  Rev. M.P. Porter, pastor of Main 
Street Christian Church, officiated, and the services were well attended 
despite the rainy weather.
Tidewater Council, No. 30, Jr. O.U.A.M. and Thomas Jefferson Council, No. 
19, Jr. O.U.A.M. were well represented. 
The following were the pallbearers:  From the citizens, G.W. Wrenn, Claud 
Jones; Tidewater Council, W.H.L. Garletelle, W.A. Stant, W.J. Beasley, S.D. 
Martin; Thomas Jefferson Council, R.A. Roach, W.T. Phelps.
