NORFOLK - Attorney Sterling W. Walker, 88, formerly of the 2800 block of
Mapleton Ave., died Oct. 3, 2001, in a local hospital. Attorney Walker was a
retired lawyer who had practiced law in the Hampton Roads area for 36 years.

A native of Sussex County, Va., he was the son of the late Sterling Walker and
Della Patterson Walker and the husband of the late Marian Blow Walker.

Attorney Walker was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of
1936, a graduate of Virginia Union University with a degree in chemistry and a
graduate of North Carolina Central University School of Law. He served three
years in the U.S. Army and was a member of the 92nd Infantry Division. He was a
member of First Calvary Baptist Church where he was a trustee for 20 years. He
was a lifetime member of Lambda Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, a
member of the South Hampton Roads Bar Association and a member of the Virginia
Union University Alumni Association.

Survivors include his brother, Larry W. Walker and wife, Verlean of Chesapeake;
sisters, Janie Williams of Chesapeake and Emma Trotman of New York City; and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Monday at noon at First Calvary Baptist Church by the
Rev. Johnnie White with burial in Calvary Cemetery . An Omega Omega Service will
be held Sunday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Hale Funeral Home, who is in charge of
arrangements. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home for the
procession to the church at 11 a.m.
