Walker died after a lingering illness at his residence, 117 South Reservoir Avenue, yesterday at noon in the sixty-fourth year of his age. He was a native of Hanover County, Va., had been a resident of Norfolk for about thirty years. For a number of years he was engaged in the mercantile business under the firm name of Walker Brothers. During the prohibition reform movement he was elected to represent his ward in the city council, which position he held continuously up to the time of his death. But few men have rendered more valuable service or have been more faithful in the discharge of their duties. The death of Mr. Walker casts a shade of sorrow over the First Baptist Church. He was one of its oldest active workers, loyal and faithful in the discharge of every duty, one whose integrity and honesty was beyond question. As a deacon and trustee he did his work with honor to himself and with credit to his church. He was genial and generous in his disposition, yet noted for his bold and fearless advocacy of what he believed to be right. His great joy and delight was in teaching his Bible class of young men Sabbath after Sabbath, for twenty-five years he stood before them. He was a close student of the "one book", the Bible, sound, logical and intensely practical in his teaching. He was particularly fond of young men and had the power of attaching them to him in an unusual degree. Many a young man has gone out from from under his influence with new impulses, renewed determination and better fitted to fight life's battles. He is survived by his widow and seven children - Lillian, C.A., Willie Belle, Milton, Margaret, Nellie and Ruth, all of Norfolk and a brother H.C.
