Funeral rites were conducted Saturday, April 13 at Jerusalem Baptist Church. The pastor, the Rev. T. M. Venable, delivered the principal eulogy, using as his topic,”Be Ye Faithful Until Death.” Testimonies attesting to Mr. Walker’s character and devotion to Christian work were made by members of the church. The choir sang three of his favorite hymns: “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” “In All My Lord’s Appointed Ways” and “Jerusalem the Golden.” Active pallbearers for Mr. Walker, who was fondly called ‘Bro. Sandy’ by the members of the church, were: William Nash, John Eggleston, Ben Northington, Clifford Jester, J. Howard Taylor and George W. Saunders, all deacons. Honorary pallbearers were Samuel Hill, John Douthit, William Holmes and Thomas Bond, deacons.
