Mr. Wallace was born in Norfolk. He had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a supervisor of heavy duty equipment mechanics after 34 years. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Portsmouth; Grand Lodge of the International Association of Machinists and Aero Space Workers, Local 441; Nansmond River Power Squadron; Great Bridge Masonic Lodge 257, A.F. & A.M.; and was a past president of Wallaceton Ruritan Club. He was the widower of Louisa Bowen Sargeant Wallace. Survivors include a daughter, Louisa W. Hammond of Tappahannock; three sons, John G. Wallace IV, Ben J. Wallace and George T. Wallace IV, all of Chesapeake; a sister, Mildred W. Drummond of Norfolk; and seven grandchildren. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Magnolia Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Robert N. Huffman. Friends may join the family at 637 Rock Drive, Chesapeake. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Norfolk County Historical Society, 300 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23320, or to a favorite charity.
