Deceased, who was about 35 years of age, was a member of Company E. Seventy-first Virginia Regiment, with which company he served during the Spanish American War. ************ WALSH – At the residence, No. 8 Cumberland street, on Monday, March 17, 1902, at 8:30 o’clock a.m., JOHN J. WALSH, in the 36th year of his age. Funeral services from St. Mary’s Catholic Church WEDNESDAY MORNING at 10 o’clock. WALSH'S FUNERAL The funeral of Mr. John Walsh will take place from St Mary's Catholic Church at 10 o'clock this morning. Virginian-Pilot March 19, 1902 ************************************************************************** The funeral of Mr. John Walsh was solemnized from St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Crow. During the services Professor Doran rendered the hymn, "Rock of Ages" as a solo. The obsequies were attended by a detachment from Company E, Seventy-First Virginia Regiment, of which the deceased was a member. There was a profusion of beautiful floral tributes. Following were the pallbearers: Military - Sergeant Major Downing, Sergeant Hodges, Company E; Corporal Banks, Company E and Private Shadbolt, Company E. Citizens - A. Lagorio, Michael Cannon, Sidney Brown and Frank Lawler.
