A native of Norfolk, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Maude Ward and a son of the late George and Mrs. Sarah Ward. He was retired from Norfolk & Western Railway after 20 years and was a Baptist. He was an Army veteran of World War I and treasurer of the N. & W. Railway Retirement Association. Surviving are an adopted daughter, Mrs. Evelyn White of Portsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Mary Williams of Norfolk; three nieces; and two nephews; and four grandchildren. Hale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
