Norfolk Journal and Guide,June 22,1963
Norfolk - Emanuel Washington 87, of 217 Filbert Street, a landscaper, 
deacon, trustee and choir member of First Baptist Church, Bollingbrook was 
given final rites at the church Sunday.

The Rev. S. B. Lewis officiated at the service. Burial was in Calvary 
Cemetery under direction of Riddick Funeral Home.

Mr. Washington, a native of Norfolk County, died June 12 in a Norfolk 
hospital.

In addition to his church affiliations, he was a member of St. Andrew's 
lodge. Survivors include a son, David Washington of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. 
Lucy Slater, also of Norfolk; and a brother, Dr. William D. Washington of 
Lynn, MA.
