Norfolk Journal and Guide,May 5,1945
Norfolk - Funeral services for George A. Washington, 200 Filbert street, Bolling 
Brook, who died April 22, were held April 26 from the First Baptist Church, 
Bolling Brook, with the Rev. T. A. White officiating.

Mr. Washington was a first class baker, and specialized in baking unique designs 
of wedding and birthday cakes. He surprised the Journal and Guide with the 
presentation of a huge cake modeled after the Holy Bible upon the celebration of 
the birthday of the Negro press in 1944.

Mr. Washington is survived by his widow, Mrs. Vivian B. Washington; his parents, 
one son, one brother, and one sister. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with 
Hale Funeral Home in charge.
