A native of Beaufort County, N.C., he had lived in this area 12 years. He was the son of William Gray Waters and the late Mrs. Margaret Paul Waters. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. Besides his father, surviving are is wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Esther Roebuck; six daughters, Mrs. Jean Jennings, of Portsmouth, Mrs. Phillip Thack, of Norfolk, Mrs. Harland Willis, Mrs. Jack White, Miss Mary Patricia Waters, and Miss Clara Ann Waters, all of Hickory; two sons, Oliver Wendell Waters, Jr., and James Robert Waters, both of Hickory; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Johnson, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; two half sisters, Mrs. Anne Estelle Boyd, of Newport News, and Mrs. Beaulah Mae Jackson, of Bath, N.C.; six half-brothers, Earl Waters, of Phoebus, S.L. Waters, of Falls Church, Lee N. Waters, of Washington, N.C.; William Waters, Jr., of Hickory, and Curtis T. Waters, of Astoria, Ore., and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
