Norfolk Virginian Pilot April 19, 1940
Mrs. Mattie Langford Roberts Watkins, aged 74, died at her residence 815 
Graydon avenue, yesterday morning at 4:20 o'clock after an illness of one 
year.  A native of Windsor, Mrs. Watkins had been a resident of Norfolk 34 
years.  She was the widow of Erastus Allen Watkins and daughter of Benjamin and 
Mrs. Sarah Langford Roberts, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.  She 
is survived by two daughters, Mrs. H.M. Brooks and Miss Lucile Watkins; one 
son, John R. Watkins, and four grandchildren, all of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover avenue 
at Manteo street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock instead of 3 as reported 
yesterday.  The Rev. Broadus E. Jones, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will 
officiate.  Interment will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
