Norfolk - Funeral service for Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Watkins, widow of the late
Morell Watkins, was held recently at First Baptist Church, Bute street. She died
at a local hospital. She was a member of the church and was the organizer of the
junior female usher board.

The Rev. Richard B. Martin, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, officiated. He was
assisted by the Rev. H. T. Myers, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Many of
the friends of the family and the deceased attended the funeral.

Mrs. Watkins, who was quite active in church work when she as able to attend
church, was a member of the Zion Builders, a Sunday School class, and the
Women’s Auxiliary of the Norfolk Community Hospital for 20 years. She was also a
member of the Margaret Francis Lodge of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by three children, John Watkins, Mrs. Aline Whitehurst, and
Morell Watkins Jr., all of Norfolk; two brothers, John C. Sears of New York
City, and Henry Sears, of Red Bank NJ; 11 grandchildren, four great
grandchildren and other relatives.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
