She was 88. Miss Watkins had retired from teaching Latin in Blair Junior High School, where she wrote and directed the school play, “Patches.” She was one of the oldest members of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, where she taught the junior department Sunday school for more than 30 years. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Virginia Chapter 22, and a life member of the Retired Teachers Association of Virginia. Survivors include a brother, R. Vance Watkins of Norfolk. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery by Dr. Kenneth S. Hemphill. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be sent to the building fund of First Baptist Church.
