Watts went to his eternal resting place to meet his Savior on March 30, 2010. He was 64. The youngest of eight children born to Robert Lee Watts Sr. and Teresa Cecilia Bailey Watts (deceased), he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Watts Jr. and Eugene F. Watts; and one sister, Teresa C. Brickhouse (Leland). He attended St. Joseph Catholic High School and graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School in June 1963. He served his country for 26 years while in the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of chief master sergeant (E-9) and was a Vietnam War veteran. He received a degree in physics at St. Leo College and a degree in aeronautical engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautics University. He attended the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception upon his retirement from the Air Force and became a Knight of Peter Claver. He volunteered for the church's soup kitchen and pantry and worked where ever he was needed. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Glenda (Watson) Watts; a son, Timothy B. Watts; and a daughter, Veronica V. Watts. He also leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Jean D. Whidbee, Anne E. King and Angela Andrews-Leary; and one brother, Clarence A. Watts Sr. (Sara); mother-in-law, Verneather Demerson; a brother-in-law, Alvin Watson; a sister-in-law, Betty Bennett; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins residing in Virginia, Texas, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Maryland, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and California. Viewing of the body will be Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service, Norfolk. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. The funeral will be held at noon Monday, April 6, at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Chapel Street, Norfolk. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 3000 Church St. Family and friends will assemble at 3823 Wedgefield Ave., Norfolk, at 10:30 a.m. day of the funeral.
