Taken to the Norfolk General Hospital in the police ambulance, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Dr. C.D.J. MacDonald, city coroner, examined the body and said death was caused by a fractured skull. The accident, it was learned, occurred about 7:30 o'clock as Mr. Webb was preparing to return to his home in Portsmouth. Friends there said he was in apparently good health when he left for Norfolk early yesterday morning. Detective Leon Nowitzky, who made the police investigation, announced that the death was due to accidental causes and that no inquest will be necessary. Mr. Webb resided with a daughter, Mrs. B.O. Montague, and is otherwise survived by another daughter, Mrs. R.J. Burton, of Portsmouth; one son, James Richard Webb, Jr., of Norfolk; a brother, Severn Webb, of Ocean View; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body was removed to the Snellings Funeral Home in Portsmouth pending funeral arrangements. ********************************************************** Richard Webb, Sr., 67, of 406 Queen Street, who was fatally injured Tuesday night in a fall at the residence of his cousin, George Webb, 826 Camp Street, Berkley, will be buried this afternoon in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock at Snellings Funeral Home.
