Mrs. Welch was born in Murfreesboro, N.C., and was the widow of George R. Welch. She was a member of St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church, Norfolk, and United Order of Tents 364. She was a national grand past senior matron and member of Royal Degree Chamber 1. Survivors include a daughter, Fannie S. Pruden of Durham, N.C.; three sisters, Nora B. Stephenson of Los Angeles, Annie M. Stephenson of Mitchellville, Md., and Susie M. Worrell of Norfolk; a brother, Johnnie C. Stephenson of Chesapeake; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. G.L. Scott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
